Just as there were many disciplines of martial combat in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, there are several areas of interest to members of the SCA: heavy weapons (combat with rattan weapons), rapier combat (sometimes referred to as “light weapons”), equestrian (mounted combat and games), and others such as archery. Each area may have its own Marshal. The main Marshal within the Barony is generally the one in charge of heavy weapons combat, and is sometimes referred to as the Knight Marshal or Fighter Marshal.
